A Training Package is an integrated set of nationally endorsed competency standards, assessment guidelines and Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Qualifications for a specific industry, industry sector or enterprise.
A Training Package describes the skills and knowledge needed to perform effectively in the workplace. They do not prescribe how an individual should be trained. Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) develop learning strategies depending on learners’ needs, abilities and circumstances. Training Packages complete a quality assurance process and are then endorsed by the National Skills Standards Council (NSSC).
There is nationally agreed policy and governance process for the maintenance of Training Packages. You can download a copy of the NSSC Policy for the Training Package Development and Endorsement Process from http://www.deewr.gov.au/Skills/Overview/Policy/TPDEP/Pages/TPDEndorsementProcess.aspx .
