Background

Food manufacturers are currently facing significant challenges to sustainability, compounded by:

  • large hikes in energy costs
  • difficulties in accessing an affordable water supply
  • more regulation demanded by a carbon-constrained economy
  • more demanding and discerning ‘green consumers’
  • gaps in workforce skills essential to deal with numerous challenges

AgriFood Skills Australia has implemented a series of initiatives focused on helping food processing enterprises face these challenges to enhance efficiency, identify areas for potential cost savings and improve the overall sustainability of the operation. The SEE Program will complement these initiatives.
