Delivery of training has commenced under the Enterprise Based Productivity Places Program (EBPPP). AgriFood Skills Australia is managing 26 current projects covering around 1,200 trainees across all industry sectors. Companies who were successful in securing EBPPP funding include:
The eleven Industry Skills Councils (ISCs) commissioned ACIL Tasman to conduct an economic analysis of the first twelve months of the EBPPP. The findings have been detailed in a new report, An Economic Review of the Enterprise Based Productivity Places Program, released on 11 November 2011.
The Enterprise Based Productivity Places Program (EBPPP) is an expansion of the successful National Enterprise Productivity Places Program conducted throughout 2008 and 2009. Up to $50 million is being provided by the Federal government, through the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR), to increase skill levels of existing workers from a range of industries.
The objectives of the program are to provide opportunities for employees to increase their skill levels and gain further qualifications. This will assist enterprises to increase productivity and meet the demand for higher skills that is a feature of today’s economy. The training is at the Certificate III to Advanced Diploma level in a range of qualifications included in the Priority Occupations List.
AgriFood has a central coordination role in delivering the EBPPP announced by the government in November 2009. AgriFood submitted applications for the initial rounds of EBPPP funding, with 31 successful applications. These applications covered 1062 trainees, with total government funding of $4.3 million.
More information about the program is available on the fact sheet.
