Enterprise Skill Needs Assessment

Michael Claessens, General Manager Workforce Development and Implementation

AgriFood Skills Australia is offering enterprises the opportunity for assistance in identifying their workforce development requirements. AgriFood can offer advice and assistance for organisations wanting to undertake a Skill Needs Analysis (SNA).

What is a SNA?

A SNA is a proven process of gathering real-time data on skill gaps within a business. The participating business, assisted by outside experts identifying training and other solutions, can then use that data to eliminate any skill gaps and address other workforce issues.

AgriFood uses a number of methods to conduct SNAs, including SkillGAP, an online tool which is easy for employees to complete in their own time and in their workplace.

Since September 2009, AgriFood has provided SNA assistance to businesses and industry sectors including:

  • The Australian Baking Industry
  • Micro and small to medium (SME) businesses such as small food processors in the Riverland (South Australia)
  • A fish hatchery in Tasmanian using state-of-the-art breeding/genetics technology
  • A Victorian meat processor facing significant challengers due to drought, competition from larger competitors and the rising Australian dollar
  • A large vertically integrated food grower, processor and distributor in the Griffith region
  • A remotely located family business in Queensland engaged in all aspects of egg production, and
  • A livestock, dry land farming and irrigation multi-national company which operates in northern NSW and Queensland
