Carbonproof Project

AgriFood Skills Australia, in association with Energetics Pty Ltd, has developed a toolkit to assist food processors to meet increasing energy, carbon and water management challenges.

Small food processors are facing increasing pressure to survive from rising energy costs and the challenges imposed by the new carbon economy.  In order to survive and compete successfully, businesses will need to learn to lead their staff to think about risk management and efficiency in their everyday work practices.

The Carbonproof toolkit has been developed to assist enterprises to ensure long-term sustainability through easily achievable “quick win” cost-saving opportunities in the short term, and planning for carbon management and energy / water efficiency in the longer term.

The toolkit provides a new hands-on and industry specific approach to workforce development for resource efficiency and carbon management in the agrifood industry.  It will assist enterprises to assess their energy, water and carbon baseline and sustainability practices and undertake a gap analysis of current management systems against industry best practice.

The Carbonproof toolkit has been produced with the assistance of funding provided by the Commonwealth Government through the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.

The toolkit has been developed for professionals in the Food processing industry. Other industry sectors are  encouraged to access the tools after the materials are adapted for their industry needs.
