  • reduced Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) incidents; and
  • improved productivity.

Participating employees reported gaining a range of work-related and personal benefits from WELL funded training including:

  • improved confidence and communication skills;
  • better information technology skills;
  • greater understanding of OH&S obligations;
  • better negotiation skills; and
  • an increased willingness to undertake further training.

Training Funding Information - key features:

Training projects are funded jointly by the Australian Government and the employer.

Employers are expected to contribute at least 25% of approved total WELL training project costs in the first year (i.e. $1 contributed by the employer for $3 contributed by the Australian Government). Where funding is approved for any subsequent years, the employer contribution is expected to increase to 50% (i.e. match Australian Government funds dollar for dollar).

PLEASE NOTE:  the Employer contribution may be negotiated on a case-by-case basis, depending on circumstances, with your State WELL DEEWR Representative.

The following types of organisations can apply for WELL training funding:

  • enterprises (including Government business enterprises);
  • representative bodies (e.g. Industry Skills Councils, employer organisations and trade unions);
  • local governments;
  • Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) on behalf of enterprises;
  • agencies which receive partial funding from Australian Government or State/Territory Government sources provided revenue is also derived from commercial business activities;
  • non-government bodies; and
  • Group Training Organisations (GTOs).

 The following organisations are not eligible to receive WELL funding:
